Text NACDL to 50457; Nation’s Criminal Defense Bar Unveils Mobile Text Alerts to Bolster Criminal Justice Reform Advocacy

Washington, DC (Feb. 27, 2019) – Making an impact in criminal justice reform just got easier. Following the implementation of a new mobile advocacy platform, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) today unveils a new way to engage advocates in support of NACDL’s criminal justice reform priorities. Just text NACDL to 50457 to get started.

“NACDL is a constant and sometimes solitary voice in fighting for fair criminal justice policies. The Association seeks to balance the scales of justice in this constant struggle by expanding the role of advocates and members and by providing them with the fastest and most effective advocacy tools available,” said Monica Reid, NACDL’s Director of Advocacy.

Not only do text alerts have a higher open rate than email alert communications—increasing the effectiveness of NACDL’s legislative alerts—it will also allow NACDL to develop innovative grassroot campaign strategies. Utilizing this feature will help NACDL in growing its current advocate database as well as the number of people advocating for much-needed criminal justice reforms around the country.

“With mobile text alerts, NACDL’s already-powerful advocacy platform moves one step closer to cultivating a collective voice within the criminal justice reform community,” said NACDL Executive Director Norman L. Reimer. “These efforts to expand outreach reflect NACDL’s continued work toward achieving its mission and strategic impact goals; specifically, strengthening its communications to expand NACDL’s advocacy efforts and effectively reach all stakeholders.”
