Washington, DC (Aug. 15, 2012) – West Palm Beach, Florida, attorney Nellie L. King was sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at its annual board and membership meeting in San Francisco, California, on July 28. King is the Immediate Past President of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL).
Her practice, The Law Offices of Nellie L. King, P.A., concentrates exclusively on the defense of criminal cases in state and federal courts and she devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono work.
Earlier this year, King testified at a regional hearing of the NACDL’s Task Force on Restoration of Rights and Status after Conviction about Florida’s draconian policies relating to rights restoration. She is also a frequent lecturer on criminal law topics, having presented at NACDL’s 2012 Midwinter Meeting and Seminar on the topic, “Beyond Registration: Collateral Consequences of a Sex Crimes Conviction,” as well as at NACDL’s Annual State Criminal Justice Network Conference on the topic of juvenile sentencing issues.
King received the 2012 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Mary Washington for her contributions to the legal profession and her community and she currently serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for the University. King received her law degree from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University, where she was named the winner of the Feinrider Moot Court Competition.
