Cincinnati Attorney Candace Crouse Elected to National Criminal Defense Bar Assn. Board of Directors

Washington, DC (August 19, 2015) – Candace C. Crouse, Partner at Cincinnati, Ohio law firm, Pinales Stachler Young Burrell & Crouse Co., LPA, was elected to a second term to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the nation's preeminent criminal bar association. She was sworn in at the Association's 58th annual meeting in Denver, Colorado, on July 26.

Crouse has dedicated much of her career to criminal defense. In addition to her private practice, she currently serves as a 6th Circuit Vice-Chair on NACDL's Amicus Curiae Committee, is a member of the NACDL Budget Committee, a volunteer attorney for Clemency Project 2014, and is one of approximately 30 attorneys (and currently the only woman) chosen by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio to serve on the Criminal Justice Act Panel, which is a select group of qualified and court-approved attorneys. Crouse also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she co-teaches a class on "Criminal Defense Investigation and Discovery." In 2012-2013, she served as President of the Greater Cincinnati Defense Lawyers Association. Crouse has also been named a Super Lawyer (Criminal Defense, 2015), Rising Star (Criminal Defense, 2012-2014), and Best Lawyer® (Criminal Defense: White-Collar, 2015).

Crouse graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Virginia University and received her J.D. from the Ohio State University College of Law, where she was a managing editor of The Ohio State Law Journal and a member of the Civil Rights Moot Court team. She is also a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute.

    Nation’s Defense Bar Reiterates Opposition to Actions Against Law Firms – Washington, DC (March 18, 2025)

    The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) remains deeply concerned over recent executive orders targeting law firms, most recently Paul Weiss and Perkins Coie, and repeats its call to uphold the right to counsel and the independence of the legal profession. Despite a ruling blocking the action against Perkins Coie, the administration has continued to target law firms representing disfavored clients and positions, threatening the right to a zealous defense.
