Washington, DC (Aug. 25, 2016) – Todd S. Pugh of Chicago, IL, was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at the Association's 59th annual meeting in Palm Beach, FL, on August 13.
A life member of NACDL, Pugh is currently a partner at Breen & Pugh in Chicago, where he has almost exclusively practiced criminal defense in the nearly 20 years since joining the firm under its prior name of Martin, Breen & Merrick. In addition to his trial practice before state and federal courts, he handles appellate and post-conviction matters, and he has tried in excess of 300 felony cases. One of his major successes occurred in 2000, when Pugh achieved an outright reversal of the murder conviction for Donna Gist.
Pugh has served as an adjunct professor at the DePaul University College of Law since 2012, where he teaches Litigation Strategy: Pretrial Criminal. He is also the current president of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where he had been an active board member for the five years beforehand. Among his numerous awards, Pugh was listed as one of the "Top Ten" criminal defense attorneys in Illinois by Leading Lawyers.
Pugh received his B.A. from Florida Atlantic University in 1993 and his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1997.
