Washington, DC (Aug. 5, 2019) - Nina Ginsberg of Alexandria, VA, was sworn in as President of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) at the Association's annual meeting in Philadelphia, PA, on August 3. 

Ms. Ginsberg is a founding partner at DiMuro Ginsberg, P.C., in Alexandria, VA and has practiced criminal law for more than 35 years. She has represented individuals and corporations in a wide range of matters, with a focus on national security law, white collar investigations and prosecution, financial and securities fraud, computer crime, copyright fraud, and professional ethics. Her work has included representing one of the September 11th Guantanamo detainees in the military commissions and in the DC Court of Appeals as part of the John Adams Project. She also represented NACDL at the 2008 United Nations sessions in Vienna, Austria. 

Ms. Ginsberg has served multiple terms on the Virginia State Bar Council and on the Virginia State Bar's Board of Governors of the Criminal Law Section. She is a Past President of the George Mason Inn of Court in Northern Virginia and has taught as an adjunct faculty member at the George Washington University and George Mason University Schools of Law. She also has taught the Virginia State Bar's Mandatory Professionalism Course. Ginsberg was a contributing editor on the editorial board of the Criminal Law Advocacy Reporter and an early member of the Practitioner's Advisory Committee to the U.S. Sentencing Commission. She is currently a member of the Steering Group of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia's Committee on National Security Law, Policy & Practice.

In 2013, she was selected to join the Top 100 Trial Lawyers list by The National Trial Lawyers organization. Since 2013, she has been named one of the Top Lawyers by Washingtonian Magazine, and in 2013, she was recognized as one of the Women Leaders in the Law by the Washington Post. Most recently, Ms. Ginsberg was recognized by Northern Virginia magazine and Super Lawyers as a Top Criminal Attorney, including in a cover story profile in Super Lawyers Magazine for Virginia and West Virginia.

In her decades of NACDL membership, Ms. Ginsberg has chaired and co-chaired the Sex Offender Policy, Amicus, Asset Forfeiture, and International Law committees, as well as NACDL’s Task Force on Defenses. She previously served on the Board of Directors in 2012, and she also served two prior terms on the Board between 1998 and 2005. She has served on several Nominating committees and Executive Director Screening task forces, as well as receiving three presidential commendations. Ms. Ginsberg has also served on the Women in Criminal Defense, National Security, International Law, and Death Penalty advisory committees. And, she is also a member of the Virginia Discovery Committee. This past year, Ms. Ginsberg served as NACDL's President-Elect. She serves as a Trustee of the NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice and is currently its Treasurer.

She is a graduate of the University of Rochester, where she received her B.A. in 1972, and the Antioch School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 1978.
